Alright. Here it is. The first book published on Sir Books. It’s called Blue Watch, and it’s frickin’ brilliant.
“Over the past seven months Jon Cherry worked closely with the Falmouth fire fighters, visiting them twice a week for twenty-one weeks. The Blue Watch book is a selection of photographs from his visual journey in and around the station. Rather than simply ‘documenting the experience’, Jonathan began to make photographs in response to what he was experiencing. It was this notion of responding to his experience that highlights his way of seeing things. The sense of anticipation at the station is drowned out by the slowness and stillness of waiting. Through the medium of photography, Jonathan has made images which awaken the senses to see the details and clarity in the small things, those day to day moments which often go unnoticed.”
The book features 22 photographs and contributions from Russell Davies, Davey Spens, Matthew Pontin, Jonathan Blyth and David Versteeg.
Jonathan Cherry uses a Wista 5x4 camera and a Hasselblad 503 CWi with Kodak film.
